Zoo Lights

Tonight we got to go to Zoo Lights at the Hogle Zoo. Normally you have to pay but someone donated money so nobody had to pay, you just had to sign up for a time/window online. The "sold out" in a few hours! When we got there I was a little worried because the parking lot was a little full, but it wasn't too crowded.

We saw Santa first because we figured the kids wouldn't really be in the mood when it was time to go. He was in a little workshop thing behind a window but he had a microphone and there was a speaker on both sides of the window so we could hear each other. Emma was super excited to see him while we were waiting in line, but when it was our turn, she got really shy. Owen, of course, was not. They talked to him for a minute and then we left. He was a cool Santa.

We walked around the zoo and saw all of the lights. Owen would get pretty excited. He loved walking through the tunnel of lights. There weren't very many animals out. We did see a couple of monkeys. The light was on in their pen. We barely saw a leopard (its pen was dark). We also saw a seal swimming around and a sea lion just laying there. The lights were pretty cool. The kids liked them quite a bit, especially Owen. Towards the end, they all started to get a little cold and whiny so we left. We were there for about an hour. We ended up walking about 1 1/3 miles. We got McDonald's for dinner on the way home.
