Halloween

Tonight was Halloween. Conner was Darth Vader

Emma was Cruella Deville

'Aulani was a dalmation

Owen was Beard Baby from the Mustache Baby books

All of the kids

I wanted to start out earlyish because I didn't want to be out with Owen too late since it was his first time going. And it was still pretty light out. We went around the block and the cul-de-sacs. Owen actually did pretty good. After each house Owen would say, "Another house! Another house!" He was pretty excited. I don't he really cared about the candy, he was more excited about the decorations. He wanted to touch all of them. About 2/3 of the way through he started to get whiny so I put him in the wagon. It was nice this year, because a lot of people just left bowls of candy out making it easy while I was pulling Owen. Sometimes he didn't even need to get out. Going around the block is good enough for the kids because they start to get a whiny towards the end. While we were out trick-or-treating, Eric was at home. He set up a white sheet hanging form the garage and put the projector on the car. He put on Nightmare Before Christmas. He put up a table and spread out the candy for the kids to grab.

The moon was pretty cool tonight. Apparently, it was a Blue Moon.

After trick-or-treating

I turned on my running app so we could track out route and see how long we walked. This is the route we took. And, we ended up walking about 2.86 miles!

Once we got home we had our traditional pumpkin shaped pizza from Papa Murphy's.

I also made a skull cake and chocolate ice cream.

Layton Temple Rocks

Today the kids colored rocks to put in the foundation of the Layton Temple. It's a pretty cool idea. Once the kids were done painting, we drove to the Layton Temple site and we put them in boxes that were sitting there, where they would put them in the foundation.

We also picked out a geode for 'Aulani

Roy Bingo

Today we did the Roy City Bingo. Instead of Roy doing a trunk-or-treat like they've done in the past (which we've never done) they did a bingo. There were a few locations you could start at. When you got there, they'd give you a bingo card and it had pictures of places for you to drive around to in Roy and then you'd be given a treat. They also had a few trivia spots on the card. They'd ask you questions about Roy and if answered correctly, you'd be given a sticker for the bingo card. Once you got a bingo, you'd  get a prize: either a full-size candy bar or a pass to the Roy Rec Center. The kids got the candy bar. We decided to go to all of the stops and get a blackout just for funsies. You didn't get an extra prize but we figured why not. The kids had fun doing it. We let the kids get up and unbuckle at each stop so they could stick out their buckets and get the candy. I liked this activity because you didn't have to get out of the car the whole time! The kids got a decent haul of candy too. I'd rather do this than a trunk-or-treat.
