Second Day 2

Today I didn't do too much. I just checked into the conference. There weren't that many good classes that I wanted to go to that day so I hung out at the hotel for a bit by myself while everyone else went out and ate and walked around. Later that night we went to this sports bar for dinner. It was pretty good. This is a picture of the group of people that went.
While we were at the restaurant we met these guys from New York, they were a little buzzed, but they showed us this dance they learned at last year's conference. This is a little video from it, it was pretty cool.

After dinner me and a girl decided to go back a little earlyish to the hotel and on the way back we saw these weird looking ducks, so I decided to take a picture. They kind of looked like turkeys.

Another Day 1: Flying to Tampa

So last Monday I went to Tampa, Florida for an AAHPERD conference, which is basically a PE conference. Today was pretty much a traveling day. I started out in Salt Lake, then went to St. Louis, and then on to Tampa. The flights actually weren't too bad. I was excited to fly since I hadn't been on plane for about 8ish years.

This first picture is somewhere between Salt Lake and St. Louis. I just think it's pretty sweet.

This one is flying in to St Louis. If you click on the picture to make it bigger, and look in the center under the river you can see the St Louis Arch. I thought it was pretty cool. The Mississippi River is huge!! I never realized it was so big until I saw it.

I think this picture is in between St. Louis and Tampa. I just thought it looked cool, kind of like a patchwork quilt.

This one is coming into Florida.

This is some of the girls that went. We saw some random bronze guy sitting on a bench on our way home from dinner and decided to sit and chat/pose.

After dinner us girls decided to go walk around and find a store so we could buy some breakfast food for the rest of the week. There was a river in the middle of downtown Tampa with a lot of bridges. This picture is kind of blurry, but it's still a cool picture of downtown.

This is the sweet view from my hotel room, on the river, overlooking the pool. Pretty sweet.

Just Kidding, Day 8: On our way home, finally

So on Friday we decide to head on our way home from Houston. We leave pretty early in the morning and we were planning on getting to Denver late at night. When we get close to Amarillo it starts to snow. Keep in mind that we're still in Texas. We get a little past Amarillo and the roads were closed so we had to turn around and head back. We eat at McDonald's and watch the news hoping to see that the roads would open soonish. Well they said that they wouldn't so we call our credit card company and ask if they can switch our hotel reservation in Denver to Amarillo. We did this because we got both our hotel stays for our trip with credit card points. Luckily they were nice and let us switch to a hotel in Amarillo. This is just the drive on our way from McDonald's to our hotel. Kind of scary.

And the very next morning. Bright and sunny without a cloud in the sky. Dumb.
Notice how much snow there is everywhere. Like an Idaho snow storm that shouldn't happen in Texas. Me and Eric also heard that this was the storm of the year. Lucky us. We ended up leaving Amarillo at about 10ish the next morning and didn't get home until 3:30 the next morning. Long long long drive, but I'm glad we made it home safe.

Day 7: Last Day

Today we were able to go to a session in the Houston Temple. It was very pretty inside and out. It was also pretty neat that me and Eric got to be the witness couple.After the temple we went and ate at this Mexican restaurant called Chuy's. It was pretty good. After eating me and Eric went shopping for some Texas souvenirs. After shopping we just came home and hung out one last time before our long journey home.

Day 6: San Antonio

Today we went to San Antonio because we wanted to see the Alamo. It was kind of a long drive but it was neat once we got there. This waterway is I think one of the originals from back in the 1800s. It was kind of cool because it had some koi fish in it.
I don't remember what this building is, but it's a cool old building on the land.
This is just a picture of an old cannon that was donated.
And this is the Alamo and me and Eric in front of it. It's a lot different than what I expected, but it's still cool and a good experience.
This is a monument in front of the Alamo of various people that were a part of it. Davie Crockett is the big guy on the right.
After the Alamo we decided to talk a walk on the riverwalk. It's a pathway on the side of the river that's in the middle of San Antonio. It was pretty cool. These next few pictures are just some cool pictures that we took on our walk.
We wanted to walk on the temple grounds for the San Antonio Temple but when we got there the gates were closed, so this is as close as we could get.
Tomorrow is our last day in Houston:( before we have to drive back home.

Day 5: Aquarium and Galveston

So today we decide to go to the aquarium. I thought it was going to be a lot different but it was still ok. These two pictures are of a poison blue dart frog.
These are just some cool ones of a lion fish.
This is a picture of a huge python that is pretty old.
There are actually 3 seahorses, the third one is really hard to see.
This was a manta ray in the petting section. Some of the rays would swim on the side of the pool and stick their fin out of the water. They felt kind of slimy.
This is just a cool looking starfish. There was a cooler one that was black and white but I didn't take a picture of it. Oh well.
These next few pictures were in the same section as the petting zoo/pool and were just fun to take pictures of. The first one is of Eric, then me, and then our friends baby, Tayce. He looks pretty cute/funny in the suit.
At the end of the aquarium there was an exhibit of white tigers. I don't really know why they had tigers at an aquarium but they did and they were pretty cool.
This is just a pretty hibiscus we saw on the outside of the aquarium.
After the aquarium we went Galveston just to look around. The damage wasn't as bad as I though it would be but it was still pretty bad. There was this one hotel that was on the ocean kind of on a bridge kind of thing. Most of the windows were broken, parts of the walls were falling off. It was kind of sad. It would have been a cool hotel to stay in. After driving around for a bit we stopped at the beach. This picture is just of a seagull.

These next two pictures are of me in this weird sinkhole kind of thing. I would just stand there and wiggle my feet around and I would go down pretty fast. I would have gone down further but I didn't want to get soaked from the waves coming in. It kind of looks like there is water covering the sand where I am at but it's just sand. In the second picture I kind of got stuck and almost couldn't get out before the water came in.
Me and Eric decided to walk down the beach and take a look at things. These next few are of some surfers trying to catch some waves.
This one is just a cool one of the waves crashing on the rocks.
This one is of our friends (where we stayed in Houston. Thanks guys!), Tayce, Caleb, and Nicole.
This is of me and Eric standing on the rocks. You can kind of tell how wet my pants got. It was really fun, but I would not recommend wearing your hair down on a windy day at the beach. Not a fun thing.

Today was fun. Tomorrow we are supposed to go to San Antonio.

Day 4: Houston

So today we didn't do a whole lot. We rested most of the day and drove around Houston. These next couple are of the Toyota Center where the Houston Rockets play.These next couple of the big buildings in Houston across from the Toyota Center. The shiny triangle one in the second picture is where Caleb works.This is the end of the 4th day, so far so good.
